my first blog-ps3

Alright, here's the deal: my brother wants me to pay for half the cost of a PS3, because he wants one so badly for some reason. I'm alright with paying half for the system, this is what we did when we bought the Nintendo Wii. But is it worth the $600? There is currently only one game worth playing, Resistance: Fall of Man, but it's all sold out at Wal-Mart, and I doubt any of the other games for the system at this point are worth the $60 dollar pricetag. I wouldn't want to buy the system and have it sit there for months while waiting for some hot title to come out.

Besides the underwhelming titles currently available for the PS3, there have been rumors of a price drop in the near future. Prices for the 20GB will or already have dropped in Japan, maybe eventually in the US, but I personally wouldn't settle for the 20GB PS3 since my house is all ready for online play(wi-fi). So what am I waiting for???

I guess what I'm waiting for is the "I bought my PS3 for this game" title. Will it be Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo,or Final Fantasy XIII? Well I've never been an Xbox guy, so I will probably end up purchasing the overly priced PS3. But is it overly priced? It's actually one of the cheapest blu-ray disc players, and actually one of the best blue-ray players, and stand-alone units sell for $1000. So if you were planning on watching your movies in blu-ray, a PS3 would be the best option, besides it's not-so-user-friendly interface, as some would call it.

Anyways, someone leave a comment and let me know what you think about the PS3, maybe you will convince me not to buy one, but you probably won't. I'll probably buy one as soon as Final Fantasy XIII is released anyways.

I agree that there is little to no current reason to jump on the PS3 from the game standpoint. Resistance is the one stand-out launch title people talk about.

Having a blue-ray disk player is nice and all,but I don't have an HDTV to get the benefits of that anyway.

I think the system is very powerful for the price, even from a computer workstation perspective. In fact, I am planning on not upgrading my PC in favor of buying a PS3. I usually spend about $500 when I upgrade, so I figure it would be better spent on a system that will do more for me in the long run than trying to squeeze a new motherboard, CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, and video card out of $500

Try spending that much on a computer that will be able to play Oblivion and Unreal Tournament 2007 in high-def at high frame rates.

Yea, totally agree with Vim! Definately be wiser to upgrade a PC with the same amount of $$$ it would take to buy a PC. In the past few years I have merged into PC gaming, but I still play them console's once in awhile. Those who are not wanting to spend that much for the PS3 should take a look at the Nintendo Wii!
